The term biotherapy is a novelty in the studies of Veterinary Medicine. Biotherapy or Larval Therapy refers to the treatment of different types of skin wounds using fly larvae or myiasis. Disinfectants have been used for the sterilization of eggs, preventing the hatching of already sterile larvae, avoiding any other possible contamination of the tissue. Sodium hypochlorite, distilled water, 4% formaldehyde, 5% formalin, 1% sodium hydroxide, 25% alcohol, hydrochloric acid, among others, are some of the disinfectants used in the process, and several techniques can be used.
