The ostrich develops very fast in the first months of life, thus favoring several problems in the legs. This pathology can be influenced by several factors, including genetic. With the concern of maintaining the quality of our herd, we try to find out which is the main factor related to the series. In this study we observed that 70% of the cases are related to the nutritional management of birds. The animals with deviation of upright were destined for blood tests, being observed a deficiency of manganese. This deficiency is responsible for the poor development of the tendons, which will not accompany bone growth.

This work aimed to determine the globular volume (VG) and the total protein concentration (PT) in wild rodents from southeastern Brazil. The study was carried out in the mountains of Bocaina, Fartura and Itatiaia. 92 animals of different ages, belonging to six species, were captured. For the VG, the measurements were 48.54% and for the PT it was 6.9 gl / dl.

Water samples were taken from shallow wells and springs on rural properties in Águas da Prata-SP, in the rainy (Dec./Mar.) And dry (Abr./Set.) Seasons. The municipality was divided into three regions according to the distance from the urban area, Prata, Fonte Platina, Matinha, five Km from the urban center, Cascata (11Km) and São Roque, Córrego do Leme, (25Km). Microbiological research was carried out. There was a high number of properties with sources of supply outside the hygienic and sanitary standards, the rainfall influenced the contamination rates and the rural properties located close to the urban area showed contamination rates higher than those further away.
