During this period, the increase in urbanization led to a need to expand production in industries, replacing artisanal work with machines. Thus, there was a need to exploit natural resources to supply the population's consumerism. These machines, for example, were powered by fossil fuels, generating polluting gases in the atmosphere. These days, this has become increasingly problematic. With population growth, evolution of means of transport and industry, the degradation of the environment also grows.
