Acidentes com abelhas (apitoxinas) : relato de caso
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; SAWADA, Marina Lie; PINHEIRO, Alessandra de Oliveira; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci
Accidents caused by hymenopterans (bees, wasps, hornets) are frequent in domestic animals, mainly in dogs and horses, but are rarely reported in the literature. The sites of the body most attacked by bees are the nasal, oral and ocular regions. Sometimes the immediate allergic reactions, caused by the direct effect of bee venom, outweigh the reactions caused by the venom of snakes, scorpions and spiders. The clinical state manifested by these patients can result either from the local hypersensitivity reaction by a sting, or from poisoning by a few stings or systemic toxic reaction by multiple stings. Most dogs stung by multiple bees, even receiving immediate recommended treatment, do not survive.

Heart failure is a clinical syndrome where the heart is unable to perform blood pumping at an adequate rate to maintain the metabolic needs of tissues, due to the decrease in ventricular ejection. However, congestive heart failure is a syndrome that affects animals with chronic heart disease, leading to an inability to maintain cardiac output due to the excessive use of mechanisms compensatory effects of the cardiovascular system. Among the main cardiac disorders, valvular endocardiosis stands out, which is characterized by nodular thickening of the valve leaflets. degenerative process, not associated with infectious or inflammatory agents, being a disease of chronic and progressive course.

(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) MORAES, Cíntia Miguel de; SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; SAWADA, Marina Lie; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; MELLO, Henry Bruno Barros; THOMÉ, Helder Esteves
Leptospirosis is a disease of worldwide importance that affects several species of domestic animals and also man. It is caused by the mobile bacteria Leptospira sp. which is eliminated in the urine and enters the body through damaged skin or intact mucous membranes. This present report describes the case of a female dog attended at the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University Fundação de Ensino Octavio Bastos (HOVET –UNIFEOB), showing apathy, anorexia, adipsia, dysuria, jaundice, pale mucous membranes, emesis with blood streaks , contact with rodents, updated immunization and the presence of three asymptomatic contacts. Animal was submitted to treatment with enrofloxacin and penicillin associated with supportive therapy, however, he died. On histopathological examination, post-autopsy was diagnosed with leptospirosis. The objective of this work was to report that even vaccinated dogs are susceptible to leptospirosis infection, due to a variety of serotypes existing in the environment.

Canine ehrlichiosis is a multi-systemic disease of great importance in Veterinary Medicine. Transmission occurs through the tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus. The clinical signs vary according to the phase they are in: acute, subclinical or chronic. Myocarditis is usually seen in the chronic phase of the infection. The present report aims to describe the occurrence of myocarditis diagnosed in histopathological examination after necropsy, in a dog infected with Erlichia canis treated at the veterinary hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University Center of the Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos.

Poliartrite imunomediada em decorrência de hemoparitose
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) PINHEIRO, Alessandra de Oliveira; SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; SAWADA, Marina Lie; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci
Immune-mediated non-erosive polyarthritis is a pathology that has as its etiology chronic infectious diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus, lymphocytic-plasmacytic synovitis, reactions to drugs or other mediated immune disorders, being in most cases of idiopathic origin. Immunomediated polyarthritis is caused by the deposition of immune complexes in the synovium of the joints, which produces a hypersensitivity reaction, leading to an inflammatory process in the affected area. The purpose of this report is to describe a case of immune-mediated non-erosive polyarthritis caused by hemoparasitosis in a dog. A four-year-old poodle, weighing 9.8 kg, with a history of progressive weight loss, hyporexia, diarrhea and ixodidiosis was treated. On physical examination, intermittent claudication and painful tenderness were found in bilateral hip joints. Hemogram, coproparasitological, and radiographic examinations were requested. The treatment instituted was subcutaneous application of atropine sulfate and imidocarb hydrochloride (two doses with an interval of 15 days) and prescription of doxycycline, ranitidine, carprofen, fembendazole.

    Toxoplasmose canina: relato de caso
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) SAWADA, Marina Lie; SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; PINHEIRO, Alessandra de Oliveira; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci
Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide polysystemic disease that has the mandatory intracellular coccid Toxoplasma gondii as its etiological agent. This protozoan can infect all warm-blooded animals, including man. Felids are classified as definitive hosts while the other homeothermic animals are intermediate hosts. The three main routes of transmission are congenital infection, eating raw or undercooked meat infected with tissue cysts and eating food and / or water contaminated with oocysts. Other routes of transmission that can also be considered, but that occur less frequently are unpasteurized milk, blood transfusion and organ transplantation. The primary infection by T. gondii can be asymptomatic in some animals, including man, however, as the parasite is encysted in the musculature, the disease may reappear when the animal is subjected to stressful situations, glucocorticoid therapy or is affected by another condition. immunodepressor. Dogs can be considered an important source of infection for man, because due to the proximity between humans and their dogs and the fact that dogs are quite curious animals, they can rub themselves in substances such as cat feces, becoming parasite carriers.
