    The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) destroys the human body's natural defense mechanisms and allows the most varied diseases to take hold, forming acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) (ANDRADE et al., 2010). Over the years, HIV infection has undergone several transformations, both in terms of clinical evolution and the epidemiological profile of infected people (KEARNEY et al., 2010).
