Sustainability, according to Verdugo, can be presented as the balance between what is good for people and their communities and what is needed to maintain natural and social resources in order to guarantee the survival of human beings. Sustainable development is responsible for meeting the needs of the present, within ecological limits, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs For Tenório (2006) the objective of sustainable development is to grow economically through the conservation of the environment and of respect for the aspirations of social agents, contributing to the improvement of the population's life.
