- Item Uso da Detomidina em infusão contínua em uma sedação para orquiectomia em estação em equino: Relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2024-10-09) CABRINI, Giovana Dias; PAIVA, Livia Maria da Silva; FONSECA, Andressa Nardi; OLIVEIRA, Flávio Henrique Valente de; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaOrchiectomy is a procedure that removes the animal's testicles, promoting docility and better social interaction, and also treats pathologies of the reproductive system. Quality anesthesia is essential to avoid complications and ensure animal welfare. In the anesthetic context, α2 adrenergic agonists are widely used in horses for sedation and analgesia. During orchiectomy, local anesthesia with lidocaine reduces blood pressure response and relieves muscle tension, complementing general anesthesia. In horses, anesthetic procedures are crucial for safe interventions. Through this work, we propose to report a successful castration in a horse, with positive results and good recovery, which was treated at the UNIFEOB Veterinary Center.
