In this study, three dog breeds were focused, including Boxer, Doberman and Rotwailler, with constitutional types and functional characteristics that are distinct and distinct from each other. From the 4 brains of each race, totaling 16 fragments were removed from some areas of the cerebral cortex (auditory, visual, somesthetic, motor, limbic, olfactory and taste) that were prepared according to conventional histological technique and stained with modified cresyl violet. Through the manual - visual counting of the average number of neuron bodies, comparative data were sought between these brain areas versus races associating constitutional types versus functional aptitude. The slides were analyzed with the aid of the Zeiss O Axioscope, coupled with the KS-400 image analysis program version 2.0 Kontron - Zeiss O. The results allow to conclude that the quantitative distribution of neurons in the different cortical areas studied shows significant differences that establish correlations with the functional aptitudes and respective constitutional types of the focused races.
