Item Miose necrosante causada pelo gênero Clostridium, que acomete seres humanos e animais(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) LOPES, Wilton Carlos Zanetti; RORATO, Rodrigo César; SILVA, Gracie LuziaThe study of gas gangrene in humans and domestic animals is related to the presence of bacteria of the genus Clostridium. The species causing gas gangrene are: Clostridium perfringens C, Septium C, Noyvi C, Sordelli C, Hystolitcum C and Bifermentans. Gas gangrene or necrotizing miosis has C perfringens as its main causative agent. About 80% of this is caused by this agent. The main form of contamination by these bacteria is through traumatic or surgical injuries. An alpha toxin produced by the mentioned gram positive bacillus is responsible for the condition of necrotizing miosis. Among the treatments used against this disease we can mention the use of antimicrobials, surgical treatment and hyperbaric oxygen therapy and vaccines are administered to animals.
