    The elderly, without a doubt, are living archives of knowledge and stories, they have a lot to teach the younger generations, bringing views from other times, from a point of view that is often different from today's, but this time can also be a A great counterpoint to younger generations, who often see the elderly as an unnecessary burden. Faced with this scenario, many families opt for a more practical solution, sending this elderly person to permanent shelter institutions. Institutionalization is often traumatic for the elderly, due to the absence of family members and is often done involuntarily, given this scenario; The presence of psychologists in institutions is very important, as they seek interventions for the well-being of the elderly and develop social skills; The elderly have good relationships among residents and excellent development of daily activities. However, there is a feeling of abandonment towards family members, as many elderly people were placed in an LTCF against their will. Due to the family's conditions, they cannot take care of the elderly person who may be very weak. Therefore, the relevance of this project consists of obtaining information about institutionalized elderly people and their vision of what it is like to be in this situation, being able to contribute to other students and professionals, as well as contributing to the elderly. Our objective is to identify the psychological profile of institutionalized elderly people and their needs, in addition to their relationships with their families, their feelings arising from the loss of autonomy when changing their routine to a new environment.

    The psychology professor-teaching profession known for working in academic institutions, has a lack of research on the subject and visibility in Brazil, mainly on the CREPOP website, known for promoting the qualification of professional psychologists. With that, through bibliographical publications, this research identified the difficulties that make up the profession, with the objective of bringing greater knowledge about the field of work of the teacher-teacher, helped to understand how the routine, demands, difficulties and the profile of the same; also understanding how the profession is currently, especially during and after the pandemic.
