Around 5000 BC in ancient Mesopotamia, historians found the first record of the existence of lipstick. Lipsticks at this time were obtained by crushing semi-precious stones. The ancient Egyptians used mud and bromine to obtain the red-purple color on their lips that caused serious illnesses and became known as the 'kiss of death'. Cleopatra used crushed carmine beetles to obtain the red color on her lips. The basic composition of traditional lipstick is the dispersion of pigments and lacquers (water-soluble dyes), with a combination of waxes, fats and vegetable oils. The objectives of this work are: the development, production and sensory analysis of lipstick.
