The study of animal behavior is growing more and more due to the concern that exists in several countries with the preservation of animal welfare in general, and especially in production systems, as the conditions of animal breeding reflect directly on the quality of products generated by them. The relationship between animal welfare and animal production, in particular milk has been highlighted in recent studies, and the evaluation of animal welfare in milk production systems focuses on the quality of life of these farm animals and consequently the quality of the milk produced, taking into account economic, ethnic, social and environmental factors. In this way, the present research project intends to reveal the importance of behavioral studies, using sheep as an experimental model, with the objective of evaluating their behavior when subjected to mechanical milking management, electing possible indicators of well-being in these conditions as well as the interference of milking management under the maternal filial relationship.

Avaliação do ganho de peso diário de cordeiros segundo o manejo de desmame
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2007-09-30) DEFAVARI JÚNIOR, Antônio Carlos; BOCHINI, João Carlos; NABI, Mariana Sintoni; PANATTONI, João Flávio; BALIEIRO, Cristiano Carvalho; HUCKE, Erica Elgelberg Teixeira da Silva
Studies related to animal production and reproduction aim to minimize economic losses, since the number of lambs born and weaned per female / year is directly related to the productive efficiency of the herd. In this way, the greater the amount of lambs born and weaned by sheep, the greater number of animals for sale, for replacement of matrices and for the selection of the flock. The present study aimed to evaluate lambs' weight gain in three different types of weaning management, which were: the precocious, the mixed system and exclusive breastfeeding. Among the types of management mentioned in the experiment, the mixed management group was the one that demonstrated greater advantages in relation to the others.

A experiência reprodutiva em fêmeas: comportamento maternal, atividade motora, memória e aprendizagem
(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) SANTANA, Rosana B.; SCHEFFAUER, Juliana; SPADA, Aline; BARROS, Michelle A. de; BONJORNO, Fernando; HUCKE, Erica Elgelberg Teixeira da Silva; FELICIO, Luciano F.
The Reproductive Experience (RE) in females. i.e. pregnancy, childbirth and lactation influence various endocrine, neurochemical and behavioral functions. Thus, the reduction in circulating levels of prolactin led to the discovery of changes in central dopaminergic and serotonergic systems. These modifications result, for example, in the increase of stereotypy induced by a dopaminergic agonist, reduced sensitivity to dopaminergic antagonists, reduced motor activity of the animal and central neurochemical responses. Maternal behavior and the acquisition of reference and operational memory can also be modified according to RE. Thus, the objective of the present study is to observe the influences of RE in rats.
