(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2017-09-30) PAGANI, Caroline de Paula; CHIARADIA, Giovana Baggio; BONFANTE, Juliana Silva; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo; GRIGOLETTO, Renan
Nowadays the alterations of the locomotor system in horses have been growing, since, increasingly, they are exposed to sports activities. However, the impact remains of great relevance to its good performance, being often the exact place of limb involvement that is difficult to diagnose. The purpose of perineural block for the diagnosis of lameness is to provide analgesia to a limb region, causing the animal to temporarily decrease lameness, provided that this anesthetized region is responsible for lameness, thus allowing the location of the probable thirst. injury, which may be investigated by other ancillary methods in order to complete the diagnosis.

(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-30) CHIARADIA, Giovana Baggio; PAGANI, Caroline de Paula; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo
Total intravenous anesthesia in equine species as well as field procedures are currently gaining ground in veterinary medicine because they prove to be safe, practical and low cost procedures, making it feasible without having to move the animal to specialized centers containing anesthesia devices. inhalation. Thus, it ensures diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures such as castrations, tenotomies, splint removal and repair of lacerations in a safe manner for the animal and the acting Veterinarian, remembering that it is extremely important to be aware of the place to be performed. In a way that is comfortable and maintains the physical integrity of the animal, the drugs of choice as well as doses and concentrations for smooth and stress-free recovery and injury, patient monitoring is critical as the animal will not be intubated or given ventilatory support.

Aspectos importantes na anestesia de Lagomorfos
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2017-09-30) OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; PASSINI,Ynara; PAGANI, Caroline de Paula; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo
The wild animal clinic has been growing significantly, especially in the lagomorph clinic, because these animals are no longer handled only for experiments, the food industry and hunting. Today, they are considered family members and their guardians are concerned about safety and well-being during clinical, surgical and anesthetic procedures, which are constantly performed for preventive medicine and treatments. Therefore, it is very important to know the anatomy and physiology of this species, as well as the important aspects that should be taken during anesthesia and which are the most used drugs, aiming at greater safety for these patients. Although there is a shortage of secure information for pet rabbits, it is possible to develop appropriate protocols and define the most important points that should be followed during anesthesia.

Cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in elderly animals, and pain relief is essential for a better quality of life for the patient and must be done correctly. In order to institute treatment, it is necessary to identify the type of pain, assess the physiological and behavioral changes, location, recognize the patient's physical state, the treatment phase, the limitations and risks of the procedures. Scales and questionnaires are also used to assist the veterinarian. Pain can be treated with different drugs such as anti-inflammatory drugs, opioids, and there are also alternative therapies such as acupuncture and physiotherapy, which help in the process of controlling cancer pain. The present work aims to present a literature review on the control of cancer pain in small animals, highlighting the importance of diagnosing, identifying the physical and behavioral changes in dogs and cats caused by pain and treating it correctly, according to the evolution of the disease. tumor, providing a better quality of life to the animal with cancer.

The care with the health of dogs and cats becomes more and more evident with the socialization of the animal with the human; quality of life and pain control are considered very important aspects, since they are family members. Therefore, veterinarians are dedicated to recognizing and treating pain in animals, since pain perception is difficult to quantify in them. Analgesia is a fundamental issue not only for quality of life, but in pre, trans and post surgery, laboratory tests and clinical routine procedures. Therefore, knowledge of the mechanism of action of drugs that help, as adjuvants, opioids in pain management is essential. Ketamine is a dissociative drug that at low doses has promising prospects in analgesia, blocking the activation of NMDA receptors (N-methyl D-Aspartate), thus inhibiting the binding with glutamate, a nerve impulse transmitter, interrupting the painful sensation and temporarily desensitized her. The objective of this work is to review the properties of the use of ketamine and its isomers in subdoses for general analgesia.

Within the anesthetic practice, tranquilization is closely linked to the balance of vital parameters, interfering in the pre, trans and postoperative period, as it allows for outpatient manipulations, potentiates induction anesthetics and necessary maintenance in numerous situations, from restraints, invasive procedures to practices that lead to stress. In anesthesiology, due to the morphological and physiological diversity found, satisfactory reassurance is a challenging issue. As an integrative therapy used concomitantly with already traditional protocols, there is pharmacopuncture, prolonging and potentiating the drugs and allowing the use of subdoses in the sedation. This literature review aims to highlight the use of integrative medicine, more specifically pharmacopuncture, as a highly effective tool in the sedation of various species.

Magnesium sulfate has been used for many years in human medicine to control and prevent seizures associated with eclampsia and to inhibit preterm labor in pregnant women. However, its use has been gradually growing in anesthesiology, making its indications broader, being a drug with analgesic and sedative properties with potential for neuro and cardio protection. The objective of this work is to review the physiology and pharmacology of magnesium sulfate, as well as to show its applications and advantages in its use as an adjunct in anesthesia and why one should go in search of new studies of its administration in veterinary medicine.
