The objective of this study was to evaluate some pre-weaning characteristics related to performance and morphometry in Santa Inês breed sheep, reared in a complete confinement regime in the Mantiqueira Paulista region. 59 animals were used, being 31 whole males and 28 females, of the Santa Inês breed, bred and handled in an intensive breeding system. The pre-weaning productive performances observed in this work, when compared to the post-weaning performance reported in the literature, indicate that it will not be difficult to reach the post-weaning performance rates observed in other intensive production systems.

This work aimed to analyze the morphology of embryos at seven days of development, produced in the laboratory from oocytes aspirated from three different classes of donors of the Santa Inês race (multiparous, primiparous and prepubertal). The analyzed embryos had a discoid shape and were delimited by the pellucid zone (ZP). In the morula and initial blastocyst stages, the ZP measured from 5 to 10 μm in thickness, revealing to be thinner in the expanded blastocyst phase. In general, the structure and ultrastructure of Santa Inês sheep embryos, originating from in vitro fertilization (IVF) and evaluated in this study, corroborate many of the observations by Colarco and Mclaren (1976), Ferrer et al. (1995) and Coccero et al. (2002). The most striking aspect was the intense uniform distribution of lipid inclusions in the cytoplasm of the blastomeres, both in the internal cell mass and in the trophoblastic cells, regardless of the origin of the oocyte, suggesting that the morphology seems to be conditioned mainly to the culture system employed, which seems to favor the accumulation of intracellular lipids.

Among the postpartum traumas in the mare, third degree perineal laceration stands out. The correction must be surgical, but it does not need to be performed immediately after the lesions occur. The lacerated tissues are swollen, necrotic and contaminated, and it is advisable to wait at least 3 to 6 weeks before undergoing reparative surgery. Numerous techniques with or without modifications have been described, but the basic principle of reconstructing a partition between the rectum and the vestibule, and the restoration of a functional perineal body has been recommended.

This study aimed to verify the superovulatory response of juvenile Santa Inês sheep and to evaluate the viability of oocytes obtained for in vitro production (IVP) of embryos. Eight females aged between 6 and 8 weeks were selected, distributed in 2 homogeneous groups of 04 animals. The females in Group 1 (G1) were submitted to exogenous ovarian stimulation and in Group 2 (G2) the females were aspirated free of hormonal treatment. From a total of 309 retrieved oocytes (G1 = 187 and G2 = 122), cleavage rates of 49.2% and 40.2% were obtained for G1 (n = 92) and G2 (n = 45) respectively, and 18.72% and 17.96% of viable embryo development in D7 (G1 = 35 and G2 = 19). Although the results suggest a better efficiency in the recovery of oocytes and cleavage rate in G1, the rates of obtaining viable embryos in D7 did not differ numerically between the two groups. Our results suggest that, although there was great variation in the amount of oocytes obtained and the production of embryos among animals, regardless of treatment, the production of embryos by in vitro fertilization (IVF) from juvenile females treated or not with exogenous hormones proved to be viable, even with good efficiency of the hormonal protocol used for females of the Santa Inês breed.

The use of ultrasonography has facilitated the real-time characterization of ovarian structures and uterus, being able to follow the waves of follicular development and endometrial changes. However, it is not the only alternative to monitor the mitotic activity of the endometrium. The use of histology and immunohistochemistry, through uterine biopsy can be performed to monitor endometrial changes responsive to hormones, as well as to detect possible problems of subfertility.

Produção de búfalas leiteiras no Brasil
(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) MAGALHÃES FILHO, Everton Luis; FIGUEIREDO, Cristiane Leite
Brazil has the largest herd of buffaloes in the West and buffalo farming is an area of strong growth in the country. Official data indicate that in our country approximately 1,382 million heads of Murrah, Jafarabadi, Mediterranean and Carabao buffaloes are raised. This species is a major producer of meat in the national territory, but it also has a large market for the exploitation of its milk, which has a high yield and quality compared to bovine milk due to its characteristics, making it ideal for making a large variety of dairy products.

(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2024-03-07) FIGUEIREDO, Cristiane Leite
The introduction is the part in which the subject of the report is presented as a whole, without details. It is an explanatory text from the author to the reader, which should establish the subject reported and refer to the main topics of the text, giving the outline or order in which they are presented, demonstrating the importance of the activities developed and the objectives achieved with their completion. "In the introduction, the student must provide a brief history of the grantor's trajectory, as well as report and describe in detail all the activities carried out. He/she must also describe the methodologies used during the internship, combining theory and practice, and report whether the procedures adopted by the grantor are consistent with the theory studied in class, using the main bibliographic sources presented during the course as a basis for the argument. It may be divided into topics." "The objective refers to the objective of the report and not of the internship." The description of the activities developed is a fundamental part of the report. At this point, the student must describe in detail what activities he/she developed, whether the procedures adopted by the company were adequate according to the theory studied in class, what his/her contributions to the company were and what suggestions for improvement he/she can make to the current process." Table to account for the case study followed during the internship (the activities and procedures in the table below are just an example; adapt the table according to your internship routine). The case report is extremely important for the report. In this topic, the student must describe, IN DETAIL, according to the area of his/her internship, a clinical case, or a procedure performed, or a protocol that was used and applied, or a methodology for an exam or laboratory or imaging process, for example. The report must be coherent, have a beginning, middle and end and contain technical considerations. The final considerations are synthetic recaps of the internship results, highlighting the scope and consequences of his/her contributions to the grantor and also suggestions or adjustments to overcome possible difficulties encountered during the internship. The student must be brief and base his/her statement on the facts previously described. References must be cited in accordance with the provisions of the current institutional standard or the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT).
