In Brazil, about 41% of children up to 6 years of age were out of classes during the pandemic, according to a Unicef study, this implies approximately 5.1 million students without access to education. This is one of the age groups most affected by changes in schooling. Taking into account all the consequences of withdrawal in the classroom, what remains for educators is to look for measures that are not palliative, shallow. Definitive actions must be built with the students, helping them to find themselves again as protagonists of their stories. As in any construction, the foundation must be firm and lasting, and this foundation is created in the early years, when social life outside the family nucleus begins, that is, it is an important moment for the individual to learn to relate and live in society, developing fundamental skills for human formation, in addition to cognitive and motor skills. There are numerous teaching methodologies and one of the most important in early childhood education is the practice of reading, which helps the student to know new worlds, perspectives, discover new tastes and aptitudes. And this practice must be an activity carried out with lightness and love, inside and outside the classrooms.

A vegetable garden project at school like the quote above described on the back, we emphasize the care of the field and the land that our ancestors passed on to their children and that today the new youth walk more and more “disconnected” from this natural world and “connected” with this virtual world, the parents more and more busy with their jobs and obligations; the children end up having less contact with the land and thus triggering less interest in it.
