    This introduction aims to establish the scope of this work by outlining the areas of focus that will be explored in detail. The work will address the central theme of “Science and Sustainability”, examining the close interconnection between these two elements and their fundamental role in contemporary society. Current trends in science education will be analyzed, highlighting developments toward a more comprehensive understanding of environmental issues. Furthermore, the importance of Environmental Education will be emphasized as an essential tool for the formation of a conscious and responsible society, prepared to address the world's environmental and social challenges.

    To ensure the balance between economic growth, respect for the environment and social well-being without compromising future generations, sustainability is present to meet these needs, in this sense, this theme brought the political, ethical challenge and study of knowledge carried out by researchers and questions about the type of science that is applied and for what purposes sponsorships and commitments are applied, therefore, time and reflection are necessary so that the greatest number of Brazilians can focus on possible academic aspects in order to produce a effective environmental education.

    Reading is capable of transforming human beings and, consequently, the world. When reading, we develop linguistic, interpretative, reasoning, concentration, expression and creativity skills, among others. Paulo Freire goes further and says that “reading is becoming aware, it is interpreting the world” and that we all want and need to be capable of this. That is why it is so important that families and educators ensure that our students have access to this gateway to the world's infinite knowledge and can, through reading, identify and value their human power. Remembering that the practice of reading affects the cognitive, social and emotional development of the individual.
