    Trata-se de um caso envolvendo um jovem casal que enfrenta uma série de problemas conjugais: Helena, de 20 anos, brasileira, e Javier, cidadão espanhol, da mesma idade. O casal reside em Ribeirão Preto e tem uma filha de dois meses chamada Alice, que fica a maior parte do tempo com os avós maternos. Os problemas envolvem, em geral, a falta de colaboração de Javier nas responsabilidades financeiras e nos cuidados com a filha. Helena administra uma microempresa, cursa economia no período noturno e realiza os afazeres domésticos, enquanto Javier se recusa a trabalhar, alegando que o mercado não está favorável.
