Item Traqueobronquite infecciosa canina(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) MARCELINO, Leticia dos Santos; SANTOS, Maria Eduarda Ottoni; PRATES, Rafaela Gonçalves; ALBERTO, Maryna L.V.Canine infectious tracheobronchitis, popularly known as "Cough of the kennels", caused by several etiological agents, including Bordetella bronchiseptica, being a pathology highly contagious. Transmission is by aerosols or fomites and the main dogs affected are those living on the streets, making the disease even more widespread. The main clinical manifestation is cough, which may or may not be productive. There are cases in which kennel cough cures itself, but if it lasts for 4 days to 3 weeks, the treatment consists of the use of: antibiotics, antitussives and nebulization. Despite being contagious, there are ways to prevent some etiological agents with vaccines, in addition to maintaining hygiene and care in front of unknown animals or overpopulated places.
